EA and Battlefield Studios have announced that Battlefield 6’s Season 2 won’t arrive when players expected — it’s now set to launch on February 17, 2026, roughly four weeks later than originally planned.
According to the developers, the delay stems from a desire to address community feedback and give the team extra time to refine the upcoming season’s content. Rather than rushing a half-baked update, the live-service team opted to extend Season 1 so players still get ongoing rewards and gameplay features as Season 2 is polished.
The current first season — which has been running since the game’s launch period — will now continue until the new mid-February start date. A Season 1 extension update is slated for January 20, bringing new weekly challenges and continued Battle Pass progression for both free and paid players.
On top of that, a fresh “Frostfire Bonus Path” will arrive January 27, offering additional in-game rewards like vehicle skins, weapon packages, XP boosts, and customization items that players can earn while finishing out the extended season.
While the extra content helps bridge the gap until Season 2, the decision has sparked frustration among segments of the community — some players feel the long wait highlights ongoing issues with post-launch content frequency and quality in modern live-service shooters.
EA says the delay isn’t meant to pin Season 2 against other titles but to ensure the next big wave of maps, modes, guns, and refinements meets player expectations rather than falling short at launch.
